Refund & Cancellation Policy
Clear terms for booking cancellations and refunds

1. Overview
We understand that plans can change. This policy explains when and how refunds are processed for tattoo bookings made through Inkspot. We aim to be fair to both clients and artists while respecting the time and effort artists invest in preparing for appointments.
2. How & When You Pay
When you submit a booking request, your card is authorizedfor the full amount — this is a temporary hold, not a charge. You are only charged once the artist confirmsyour booking. If the artist declines, or doesn't respond before the authorization expires (about 7 days), the hold is released automatically and you are never charged.
You pay the full amount once, at the moment the artist confirms. There is no second payment after your session.
Behind the scenes, the artist is paid in two stages from the amount you've paid: 30% when they confirm your booking, and the remaining 70% released 24 hours after your scheduled session(held securely by Inkspot in between). This protects both you and the artist, but it does not change what or when you pay — you pay once, on confirmation.
3. Client-Initiated Cancellations
If you cancel before the artist confirms, you have not been charged — the authorization hold is simply released and you owe nothing.
If you cancel after the artist has confirmed(and you've been charged), the artist keeps the 30% deposit as compensation for reserving your slot and preparation time. The rest of what you paid (the remaining 70%) is refunded based on how much notice you provide:
7 or more days before your appointment
75% of the remaining balance (everything except the 30% deposit) is refunded.
3 to 6 days before your appointment
50% of the remaining balance is refunded. The artist has likely begun significant preparation at this stage.
Less than 3 days before your appointment
No refund of the remaining balance, and the artist keeps the deposit. Late cancellations prevent the artist from filling the slot.
4. Artist-Initiated Cancellations
If an artist cancels your booking for any reason, you will receive a full 100% refund of everything you paid. We will also assist you in rebooking with the same artist at a later date or finding an alternative artist.
5. No-Show Policy
If you do not attend your appointment and have not cancelled in advance, your payment is non-refundableand is treated as a less-than-3-days cancellation. No-shows waste the artist's time and prevent other clients from booking the slot.
If you are running late, please contact the artist directly through the Inkspot messaging system. Many artists will accommodate a reasonable delay.
6. Platform & Processing Fees
The 10% Inkspot platform fee and Stripe processing fees (2.9% + €0.30) are non-refundable, except in the case of artist-initiated cancellations where all fees are returned.
The refund percentages above (75% / 50% / 0%) apply to the portion of your payment that remains after the artist's non-refundable 30% deposit.
7. Dispute Process
If you believe a refund decision was made in error or have a dispute regarding a booking:
- Contact the artist: Use the Inkspot messaging system to try to resolve the issue directly with the artist.
- Contact support: If direct communication does not resolve the issue, submit a support ticket through our Help Center. Include your booking reference number and a description of the issue.
- Review & resolution: Our team will review the dispute, contact both parties, and aim to reach a fair resolution within 5 business days.
8. Refund Processing Times
Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment method. Processing times vary:
- Refund initiated: Within 1-2 business days of cancellation
- Card refund: 5-10 business days to appear on your statement (depending on your bank)
