Cookie Policy
The cookies and similar technologies we use, and how to control them
Last updated: July 2026
Draft Notice: This Cookie Policy is provided for transparency and has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel. It should be verified against your current deployment and applicable law (EU ePrivacy Directive / GDPR) before being relied upon.
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Inkspot (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our platform. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your personal data more broadly.
You can change your choices at any time using the cookie banner or the Manage Preferences option described in section 7.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They let a site remember your actions and preferences over time. We also use related technologies such as browser local storage (see section 6), which stays on your device and is not sent back to our servers.
3. Categories of cookies we use
- Essential cookies — required for the platform to function (authentication, security, remembering your consent choices). These are always on and do not require consent.
- Functional cookies — remember preferences such as your display currency and dashboard layout to improve your experience.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand aggregated usage patterns and improve performance. Only set after you grant consent.
- Marketing cookies — would support personalised recommendations. This category is not currently active — we set no marketing cookies today.
4. Cookies we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| payload-token | Keeps you signed in (authentication session). | Essential | 14 days |
| oauth_state | Protects the Google/Apple sign-in flow against cross-site request forgery. | Essential | 10 minutes |
| cookie-consent | Remembers your cookie preferences. | Essential | 1 year |
| inkspot-display-currency | Remembers your preferred display currency. | Functional | 30 days |
| sidebar_state | Remembers your dashboard sidebar layout. | Functional | 7 days |
| inkspot-anon-id | Anonymous identifier for aggregated analytics and feature-flag / A-B assignment. Contains no personal information. | Analytics | 1 year |
5. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by trusted third parties we use to run the platform:
- Stripe (payments) — sets fraud-prevention cookies such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid on payment pages. Essential to process payments securely. See Stripe’s cookie policy.
- Google Analytics (analytics) — where enabled, gtag.js sets _ga, _ga_* and _gid to measure aggregated usage. These load only after you accept analytics cookies (Google Consent Mode defaults them to denied until then).
- Google & Apple Sign-in — during the sign-in round-trip, these providers may set cookies on their own domains, governed by their respective privacy policies.
6. Local storage
We also use your browser’s local storage for lightweight preferences — for example your theme (light/dark), whether you’ve dismissed a prompt, and tour progress. Local storage stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can clear it via your browser settings.
7. Managing your cookies
- On Inkspot: use the cookie banner when you first visit, or open Manage Preferences to grant or withdraw consent for analytics and marketing cookies at any time. Essential cookies cannot be switched off as the platform cannot function without them.
- In your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in or completing a booking.
8. Retention
Cookie lifetimes are listed in the table above and range from a few minutes (sign-in security) to one year (your consent choice and anonymous analytics id). Session cookies are removed when you close your browser; persistent cookies expire on the date shown or when you clear them.
9. Changes & contact
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes; the “last updated” date reflects the latest revision. Questions about cookies or your data can be raised through our Help Center.
